At noon on April 29, beach wrestling at the 6th Asian Beach Games (ABG6) - 2026 officially concluded. Two female wrestlers from Hue wrestling team made notable contributions to the overall success of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at this year’s Games.

A ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27th, 1946 – March 27th, 2026), organized by the Department of Culture and Sports, was held on the afternoon of March 27 at the City Culture and Cinema Center. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee, attended and extended congratulations and encouragement.

On the morning of the 6th day of the first lunar month (February 22), Thu Le Village wrestling arena (Quang Dien Commune) officially opened, attracting a large crowd of locals and visitors from neighboring provinces and cities.

By taking the time to examine wrestling and Quang Dien’s approaches, many highly practical lessons can be distilled, providing more solutions to help Hue’s sports advance further and soar higher.

“Vietnam Sports Administration (Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism) has just issued a decision to establish Vietnam Sports Delegation for SEA Games 33, in which Hue sports contributes 1 coach and 7 athletes,” said Bui Thanh Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture & Sports on the afternoon of November 28th. ​

With excellent achievements at the 2025 National Classical and Freestyle Wrestling Championship, key figures of Hue City’s wrestling team continue to affirm their determination to conquer the peak at the 33rd SEA Games.

To date, Hue Sports has essentially finalized the athletes who will join the Vietnamese delegation at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand later this year, amid hopes for the most successful Games yet.

Once again, Hue wrestling left audiences jaw-dropped as three sisters competed at the same SEA Games and captured three of the four slots in women’s freestyle wrestling at SEA Games 33.

The story of five siblings training and competing in the same sport might seem unprecedented in Vietnamese sports, but it is a reality in a family from Quang Dien District, Hue City.

As scheduled, on the morning of February 7, thousands of locals and visitors flocked to the communal house area of Lai An village (also known as Sinh village), Duong No Ward (Thuan Hoa District) to watch the wrestling festival. The Sinh village wrestling festival is a traditional festival with a rich martial spirit, and over 400 years old in the Ancient Capital land.

The Water Ball Wrestling Festival (also known as the Mud Ball Wrestling Festival) only takes place in the summer and is held once every four years.

The wrestling festival of Thu Le Village is a distinctive cultural feature, a rich manifestation of the martial spirit of the local people.
