Specifically, in beach wrestling, female wrestler Doan Thi Kim Oanh defeated her Indian opponent in the semifinals. Unfortunately, in the final, the Hue wrestler could not overcome her Sri Lankan rival, thereby winning a silver medal in the 50kg category.

In the 60kg category, athlete Nguyen Thi My Hanh secured a bronze medal after failing to get past the athlete from the host nation in the semifinals.

As first-time participants, the achievements of Kim Oanh and My Hanh are highly commendable, as the journey to win medals at the ABG6 was far from easy. They had to face outstanding athletes from Asia's sporting powerhouses such as China, Japan, and North Korea, etc.

“Besides helping Hue wrestling secure its first-ever results at this arena, this is also a motivation for Hue wrestling to continue striving at the World Beach Wrestling Championships to be held in Da Nang, scheduled for May 9 - 10,” said Mr. Bui Thanh Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports.

ABG6 - 2026 took place from April 21 - 30 in Sanya (Hainan, China), bringing together athletes from 45 countries and territories.

At the Games, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation comprised 90 members (including 2 athletes from Hue), competing in 8 sports: beach handball, beach wrestling, Jujitsu, traditional boat racing, beach swimming, athletics, Sailing, and Teqball.
