| Outstanding athletes and coaches were awarded prestigious honors by the State |
This year’s Championship brings together nearly 350 male and female athletes from 18 provinces, cities, and sectors nationwide, including Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, the People’s Public Security, the Military, Phu Tho, Ho Chi Minh City - Zone 2, Quang Tri, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Ca Mau, Hung Yen, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh, Thai Nguyen (men), Thai Nguyen (women), Bac Ninh 1, Bac Ninh 2, Lao Cai, and Hue City.
Running through May 8, the athletes will vie for 33 sets of medals, including 22 sets of medals in freestyle category, and 11 sets of medals in Greco-Roman category.
As the host, Hue City's wrestling team fields more than 20 athletes competing in freestyle category (both men and women), aiming to secure 2 - 3 gold medals.
“Beyond providing a platform for athletes to compete and enhance their professional skills, the Championship is also an opportunity to select outstanding talents for the national team in preparation for the SEA Games, ASIAD, and the Olympic Games, while continuing to promote the image of Hue - a safe, friendly, and culturally rich destination - to both domestic and international friends,” said Mr. Bui Thanh Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee awarded 6 Second-Class Labor Medals, 3 Third-Class Labor Medals, 7 Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, and 7 Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to athletes and coaches of the Vietnamese wrestling team (including 3 athletes from Hue’s wrestling team) for their outstanding achievements at the 33rd SEA Games and the Asian U17 & U23 Championships 2025.
