In a joy of a significant historical moment, as the goal of the entire political system and local people which is making Thua Thien Hue a centrally-governed municipality come true, Thua Thien Hue Newspaper would like to review and highlight through photos some key projects that mark the province’s development with a consistent and unified point of view: Building a centrally-governed municipality based on the preservation and promotion of the values of typical heritage, culture, and history of the Hue land.

On December 5 and 6, at the Provincial Continuing Education Center, the Provincial Department of Education and Training, in collaboration with the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, organized a training session on teaching safe swimming skills and preventing drowning in students.

On the morning of November 23, the ceremony to receive the national intangible cultural heritage title “Knowledge of Huế Áo dài tailoring and wearing” was solemnly held at the Provincial Culture and Cinema Center.

That is the topic of the 2024 LSCAC International Scientific Conference - “Language, Society, and Culture in the Asian Context”, which takes place from November 22 to 24 in Hue. This event is held by Hue College in collaboration with Malang National University (Indonesia), Hyderabad University (India), University of Mahasarakham (Thailand), the Institute of Cultural Anthropology (Hanoi), and the Northeast Institute for Cultural and Arts Research (Thailand).

As a routine, every Tuesday night at Ca Hue (Hue-Singing) Club belonging to Thua Thien Hue Culture, Information and Sports Center at 25 Le Loi Street, Excellent Artist Quynh Hoa comes early to burn splinters of agawood in a small urn placed on the performing mat. That is the dear and familiar image of Quynh Hoa in the hearts of club members and intimate audiences.

On the morning of November 17, Kim Dong Publishing House in collaboration with Hue City Center of Culture, Information and Sports, and Club of Book and Hue Culture held a program “Hue people tell stories about Hue”, featuring an exchange with writer and journalist Phi Tan, the researcher Le Vu Truong Giang on the occasion of launching the book “Hue people tell stories about Hue” and “Students over the Tam Giang Lagoon”.

Launched in April, the 2024 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest attracted 16.358 entries from 120 primary schools, secondary schools, and high schools in the provincial area.

“I am always worried that time passes by too quickly while I am too slow to do many things for my children and grandchildren in the future”, elder Hanh expressed his concern upon gazing at Truong Son (Annamite) mountain range in the distance. With his quiet passion for creation, he has guided many generations of students to achieve brilliant success through 35 years as an art teacher in public schools and art training classes.
