Addressing the conference, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Trung urged authorities at all levels and sectors to grasp the spirit thoroughly and shift their focus from ‘improving institutions’ to ‘creating tangible outcomes and value’, recognizing science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the city’s new growth drivers.
In the Economy section (Page 4), one of the standout stories is ‘Cemeteries Encroach on Prime Coastal Land’, which examines how thousands of graves continue to occupy large areas of high-value coastal land in Thuan An, which carries high potential for the development of tourism and urban infrastructure. The report highlights how this long-standing issue has complicated land clearance efforts, delayed numerous development projects, and hindered the pace of urban expansion.
Following this theme, the article ‘Promoting Civilization in Funeral Practices’ explores the factors behind Hue’s still-low cremation rate. It points out that changing a long-standing custom passed down through generations requires the ‘joining hands’ of supportive policies, streamlined administrative procedures, and sustained public awareness campaigns at the grassroots level.
Another notable feature in the Readers & Law section is the article ‘Early Identification for Effective Prevention’, which draws on a series of recent cases involving juvenile delinquency to underscore the importance of early intervention, starting from minor violations.
