Climate change and increasingly extreme weather events are posing significant challenges to monument preservation. Hue Today Weekend interviewed Mr. Le Cong Son, Deputy Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, regarding proactive solutions to mitigate risks to Hue’s heritage.

More than 10 years after winning a prize at Sao Mai 2013, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Tinh Uyen returned to a professional music competition and won the Gold Prize in the Vocal category at the Crescendo International Music Festival 2026. For her, the award not only marked her return to the stage but also gave her renewed motivation to continue conducting research, performing, and inspiring her students through music. ​

On the morning of August 1, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh, together with Standing Committee Member of the City Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Hoang Hai Minh, conducted an on-site inspection of construction progress at the boarding inter-level schools (primary and secondary level) in the communes of A Luoi 3 and A Luoi 4. After more than three weeks, the training program on Hue-Singing (Ca Hue) performance skills for more than 180 music teachers from primary schools across Hue City, organized by the Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Department of Education and Training, concluded on the afternoon of July 31.

On the morning of July 31, at the Southern Women’s Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, the Tran Van Khe Scholarship Foundation held the announcement and award presentation ceremony for the 2026 Tran Van Khe Awards. Notably, the Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theatre was one of only two organizations honored in recognition of its outstanding contributions to the preservation, research, and promotion of Vietnam’s traditional music.

At the 2nd Special Session of the 9th Hue City People's Council for the 2026 - 2031 term, which opened on the afternoon of July 26th, delegates approved two key resolutions: a list of six transport infrastructure projects to be implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, and a policy providing free general education textbooks beginning with the 2026 - 2027 academic year.

On the afternoon of July 30, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang received and held a working session with a delegation from Yulin City, Guangxi Province (China), led by Mr. Tran Thuy, Deputy Secretary-General (Deputy Chief of Office) of the Yulin City Party Committee.

“Hue City is committed to standing alongside businesses by fostering a transparent, convenient, and stable investment environment, while promptly addressing challenges and obstacles so that investors can confidently establish a long-term presence in the city”. That was the message delivered by Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Hue City Party Committee, and Head of the city's National Assembly Delegation, at an investment promotion discussion between Hue City and Chinese enterprises held on the afternoon of July 29th.

On July 29, the City Women’s Union, in coordination with the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, provided livelihood support to women members from poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households in Binh Dien Commune.

On the afternoon of July 29, the Youth Union - Student Association of the College of Hue organized the charity program ‘Compassionate Summer’ at the Long Tho Pagoda Support Center for Children with Disabilities.
