On the evening of October 4th, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, held its traditional torch procession, white coat presentation, torch handover and scholarship awards for new students as part of the 2026 - 2027 academic year welcome festival with the theme of 'Passing the Torch of the White Coat'.

The rhythmic clang of hammers rings out from blacksmiths’ forges, the scent of fresh wood fills carpentry workshops, and artisans work with bamboo strips, conical hat frames, needles and thread. Each craft has its own tasks, and each artisan has a personal way of keeping the tradition alive. The resulting products bear the distinctive marks of their craft villages and reflect the diligence and skill of the craftsmen.

On October 4, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST) held a ceremony to mark the National Innovation Day 2026 under the theme ‘Innovation - A Driving Force for Society’s Development’, underscoring the need to make innovation a driving force for development across all sectors and fields and throughout society.

Through trade fairs, buyer-seller matching programs and interprovincial and regional trade events, many of Hue’s distinctive products have expanded their distribution channels and reached a wider customer base beyond the locality. Strengthening regional linkages, combined with coordinated support before and after business matching activities, is expected to lay a foundation for more sustainable markets for local products.

These were among the topics covered at the 2026 life skills education program for students, themed ‘Safe Schools’, organized by Hue City Youth Center at Pham Van Dong Secondary School on the afternoon of October 2.

On the afternoon of October 2, at Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted, the Department of Education and Training held a signing ceremony on cooperation with the University of Foreign Languages, Hue University, and launched a Chinese language teaching program in schools for the 2026-2027 academic year.

At a workshop on ‘Promoting Vocational Education Development in Line with Business Needs’, organized by Hue City Department of Education and Training on the afternoon of October 2nd, delegates proposed a range of solutions to strengthen cooperation between government agencies, training institutions and businesses, with the aim of aligning workforce training more closely with labor market needs. The workshop was held in response to Vietnam Labor Skills Day (October 4th).

On the morning of October 1st, wards, communes and educational institutions across Hue City launched Lifelong Learning Week 2026 under the theme ‘Learning for Real, Practising for Real, Mastering Digital Technology and Artificial Intelligence to Build a Learning Society and Promote Lifelong Learning’.

On the afternoon of 30/9, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Le Tri Thanh led a survey of several heritage sites and cultural spaces to assess their current conditions and study ways to promote their historical, architectural and landscape values.
