The year 2026, the first year of implementing Resolution 72-NQ/TW on breakthrough solutions for protecting and improving public health, marks a new turning point for healthcare in Hue City. Building on the strong foundation of Hue Central Hospital, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University; and a primary healthcare system undergoing comprehensive reform, Hue is steadily affirming its position as a center for advanced, specialized medical care, with a vision toward becoming a regional hub in Southeast Asia.

On the morning of January 11, Hue Department of Health, in coordination with the Central Committee of Vietnam Young Physicians Association and Viettel Hue, organized a program providing free medical check-ups, health consultations, medicine distribution, and gifts for policy families and disadvantaged households in Hoa Chau Ward.

On the afternoon of December 15, Hue City Department of Health organized a conference to transfer the commune and ward health stations, in their current condition, from the medical centers to the Commune-level People's Committees for management. This is an important step to implement the City People's Committee's decisions on consolidating the organizational model of grassroots healthcare, towards improving management efficiency and promoting the role of local authorities in primary healthcare for People.

The atmosphere at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, has become even more vibrant with the victory of the student team participating in the 2025 International Medical Biochemistry Competition.

On the afternoon of December 1, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University held a conference to officially transfer Hue Medical College - previously under the management of Hue City People’s Committee - to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, in accordance with Decision No. 2346/QĐ-TTg dated October 23, 2025, issued by the Prime Minister.

From November 24th to 28th, Hue Central Hospital (HCH) Base 2 cooperated with the Medical Development Assistance in Vietnam (ADM-VN) Organization - France to provide free eye examinations and eyeglasses for local residents. This is the third time the program is implemented.

On the afternoon of November 26th, the Youth Union of Hue Central Hospital (HCH), in coordination with the Vietnam Young Physicians Association and the People’s Committee of Hung Loc Commune, organized a program providing medical examinations, health consultations, and free medicine to residents affected by the prolonged flooding. This humanitarian activity aims to help people quickly stabilize their physical and mental well-being and proactively prevent diseases in the post-disaster period.

On the morning of November 22nd, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister’s Decision on the merger of Hue Medical College into the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, in accordance with Decision No. 2346/QD-TTg dated October 23rd, 2025.

International cooperation programs in the health sector have brought practical benefits to Hue City, achieving “three goals with one action”: creating opportunities for medical staff to improve their skills; helping thousands of patients access advanced treatment techniques; and strengthening the reputation of medical institutions.

Hoang Ngoc Vinh An, a medical student, representing Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, surpassed many contestants from medical and pharmacy universities across the country to win the Second Prize in the “National Medical and Pharmacy Students’ Model Session” competition. This achievement helped Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy make a mark at the “9th National Medical Education Conference - 2025”, held at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in early November.
