Flowing through the center of Hue City, the Huong River, a heritage river, is one of the iconic symbols of Hue Ancient Capital. Visitors to Hue will surely be enchanted not only by the Huong River but also by the peaceful, tranquil, and vibrant beauty of the Dong Ba River, the An Cuu River, and the Ngu Ha River, etc. This is why Hue is known as the “city of rivers”. Associated with over 700 years of history in expanding and developing the land of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan, each of these rivers is not just a natural landscape, but also a historical and cultural witness to this land.

In the years from 1930 to 1937, painter Mai Trung Thu was appointed to teach drawing at Quoc Hoc High School. Here, his talent blossomed. Series of his paintings were born, depicting gentle Hue girls, the charming scenery of the Huong river and the temples and royal mausoleums. His paintings in Hue rendered him a solid position in modern Vietnamese painting.

To ensure timely service for the opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025, scheduled for the evening of March 25th, Thuan Hoa District Green Park Center is accelerating the construction of an outdoor stage along the southern bank of the Huong River. According to the information released on March 6 by Hue Academy of Music, Akatsuki music band from Japan will hold a traditional concert with the theme “Echoes of Culture” on the night of March 8 at Song Huong Theater (No.1 Le Loi St., Thuan Hoa District).

After more than 20 years of waiting, the first restoration of an ancient rường house (beamed house) among 21 ones in Bao Vinh Ancient Town, Huong Vinh Ward, Hue City, began in early November 2024. The project aims to restore the house to its original Hue-style beam architecture, contributing to urban revitalization, and promoting tourism and services in Bao Vinh Ancient Town.
