Travelling around the Hue area, one can easily encounter famous conical hat villages, such as Da Le, Phu Cam, Tay Ho, and Van The, etc. Each village carries its own distinctive charm, yet they all share the same quiet resilience that continues to spread through time. This is the reason why, even in the midst of today’s modern life, the conical hat has been there, so close and familiar. For the mothers, sisters, and young women who devote themselves to crafting these hats, they are like silent artists, safeguarding not only the craft but also the soul of their homeland.

Hue Today Weekly would like to present to readers a series of photos of the handicraft of making conical hats in Van The Village (Thanh Thuy Ward). It’s known that this craft village is recognized as a traditional craft village. Along with the photos submitted, the author Bao Chau shared: “Among many beautiful frames, the image that impressed me most is of a grandmother and her granddaughter working beside a conical hat being shaped. The little girl, though still learning, works skillfully. It is a story of transmission that is both gentle and profoundly meaningful”.
