The year 2026, the first year of implementing Resolution 72-NQ/TW on breakthrough solutions for protecting and improving public health, marks a new turning point for healthcare in Hue City. Building on the strong foundation of Hue Central Hospital, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University; and a primary healthcare system undergoing comprehensive reform, Hue is steadily affirming its position as a center for advanced, specialized medical care, with a vision toward becoming a regional hub in Southeast Asia.

On the morning of December 22, a workshop was held in Hue City to launch the mission “Promoting human resource management for Vietnamese healthcare system, focusing on HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis prevention and control”. The workshop aimed to finalize the plans, content, and implementation methods for scientific and technological tasks in the new phase, contributing to improving the operational efficiency of local healthcare system.

On the journey to building Vietnam into a reputable destination for medical tourism and healthcare services in the region and the world, Hue holds many advantages to develop and position its brand name as a destination for medical - healthcare tourism.

At the end of August 2025, Hue Central Hospital organized the first “Proton Therapy in Vietnam” workshop. This event is considered an important step toward realizing the plan to build three proton therapy centers at three institutions: K Hospital (Hanoi), Hue Central Hospital, and Cho Ray Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City).

On June 26, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University in collaboration with Youngsan Health and Science University (South Korea) organized the event “Health Festival” 2025.

On the morning of April 18, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital held a ceremony to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment and development of the Department of Orthopedic and Thoracic Surgery.

On the afternoon of November 15, the leadership of Hue Central Hospital shared that its medical team successfully saved the life of a newborn with severe jaundice and hemolysis thanks to early diagnosis and a blood exchange transfusion procedure.

On January 24, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Phan Ngoc Tho visited and presented gifts at some social protection facilities across the province on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of 2024, the Year of the Dragon.

On the evening of August 26th, an offline meeting among LGBT people and advocates was held in Hue City, with the participation and support of Got Hong Clubs in Nghe An and Da Nang.
