Concerns about losing the “green” image of the heritage-rich ancient capital were prevalent when Thua Thien Hue province began developing industrial and economic zones (IZs and EZs) decades ago. However, through the province’s meticulous selection process, many of these zones have flourished, proving the right direction and significantly contributing to job creation and socio-economic development.

Economic and industrial zones in the province are key areas for attracting investment. However, in order to capture the attention of significant investors, it is necessary to create an open environment with many solutions to support businesses. Regarding this issue, Thua Thien Hue Weekly had an exchange with Mr. Le Van Tue, Head of the Provincial Economic and Industrial Zones Management Board.

This December 2023, the Regional Container Lines (RCL) from Thailand opened an international container shipping route to Chan May port. This shows not only the potential and advantages of the port but also a driving force and catalyst contributing to the development of the Chan May-Lang Co Economic Zone in particular and Thua Thien Hue province in general.

Allocating resources to develop urban space in lagoon and seaside areas; investing in Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone; clarifying the shape of a modern Hue City, etc., are some suggestions from leading experts on planning, architecture, urbanization, economy, and so on, at the conference organized by the Provincial People's Committee on the afternoon of April 1st to collect opinions on the Urban Master Plan of Thua Thien Hue to 2045, with a vision to 2065.
