Flowing through the center of Hue City, the Huong River, a heritage river, is one of the iconic symbols of Hue Ancient Capital. Visitors to Hue will surely be enchanted not only by the Huong River but also by the peaceful, tranquil, and vibrant beauty of the Dong Ba River, the An Cuu River, and the Ngu Ha River, etc. This is why Hue is known as the “city of rivers”. Associated with over 700 years of history in expanding and developing the land of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan, each of these rivers is not just a natural landscape, but also a historical and cultural witness to this land.

On April 2nd, Hue Monuments Conservation Center held a working session with Ms. Sarah Hooper, the Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, opening up new opportunities for collaboration in heritage conservation, cultural exchange, and sustainable tourism development between Hue and Australia.

On the morning of March 30th, a ceremony was held at Nghinh Luong Dinh Pavilion, situated on the bank of the poetic Perfume River (Phu Xuan Ward), to officially receive Hue Nam Temple Festival as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Located about 20km west of Hue Imperial City, Emperor Gia Long's Mausoleum (or Thien Tho Mausoleum) is a relic of the Complex of Hue Monuments, which has been recognized by the UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site.

The work of collecting and digitizing documents is incredibly important and has never been enough to effectively carry out the restoration of cultural heritage. For the cultural heritage of Hue, this need is even more urgent as the Complex of Monuments of Hue Imperial City still has many structures awaiting sufficient documentation to complete scientific files for restoration purposes.

On the afternoon of February 19th, at Hue Monuments Conservation Center (HMCC), Mr. Franck Bolgiani, Cultural Attaché and Director of the French Institute in Hanoi, visited and held discussions with the Center to strengthen cooperation in preserving and promoting Hue’s cultural heritage.

The culinary festival titled “Vietnamese Noodle Heritage - Van Cu Noodle Village” opened on the afternoon of February 18 at Van Cu Hamlet, Nam Thanh Village. This is one of the main activities to respond to the celebration of receiving the national intangible cultural heritage recognition for the “Traditional Craft - Van Cu Noodle-Making Craft”, which is scheduled to be held on February 19.

In parallel with the Festival, Hue has become one of the focal points for attracting, gathering, and spreading cultural values, serving as an environment and opportunity to revive and illuminate Hue’s cultural heritage.

By blending modern technology with long-standing cultural values, Hue’s heritage is embarking on a new, vibrant journey.

It may seem easy to dream of a day when Gia Hoi “revives,” not only preserving its essence and cultural heritage values, but also seizing the opportunity for this ancient quarter to develop. The preservation of heritage values in this ancient quarter located east of the Hue Citadel, however, is facing many challenges and conflicts.
