On the afternoon of October 30, Comrade Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member and Permanent Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Secretariat, visited and inspected the flood situation and post-flood recovery efforts in Hue City.

Out of a love for cultural heritage, Vo Tran Minh Thu, a 12th-grade student at Hai Ba Trung High School, has turned her passion for research into modern technological applications to bring heritage closer to the community, especially the younger generation.

Within the framework of Vietnam - Laos special friendship cooperation program (from October 22-26), a delegation from Hue City People's Council, led by Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuan, Member of the Standing Committee of Hue City Party Committee, and Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Council, visited, worked and held talks with the Standing Committee of the Salavan Provincial People's Council, Lao People's Democratic Republic.

In his latest speech, Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan, Head of Hue City Forest Protection Department informed that the City People’s Committee has just decided to establish the Bac Hai Van Landscape Protection Zone, located in Chan May - Lang Co Commune.

On the familiar green chalkboard, under the skillful hands of Ms. Le Thi Loc Phuong, an art teacher from Tu Ha Primary School No. 1 (Huong Tra Ward), the heritage sites of Hue such as Ngu Phung Pavilion, Thien Mu Pagoda’s bell tower, or the graceful curve of Truong Tien Bridge gradually come to life. Each delicate stroke of white and colored chalk transforms the classroom chalkboard into a lively painting, evoking an image of Hue that is both serene and poetic.

Going through many generations, the traditional drum-making craft of the Co Tu people has gradually faded, remaining only in the memories of a few elders. In Doi Village, Khe Tre Commune, artisan and village elder Vuong Van Cua is one of the last people still preserving the ancient secrets of making traditional Co Tu drums.

After many years of sustaining their lives through regular blood transfusions, many pediatric patients suffering from congenital hemolytic anemia (Thalassemia) have now found the “light at the end of the tunnel” thanks to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at Hue Central Hospital. From these successful transplant cases, a door of hope has opened, bringing the children a healthy, normal life and complete joy after so many difficult days.

In mid-July, Ngoc Khanh Hat boi and Tuong co Troupe (hat boi and tuong co are types of Vietnamese classical opera) and others from the South gave two performances at Thanh Binh Tu Duong, also known as Thanh Binh Tu. The ancestral house, which is located in Alley 281 on Chi Lang Street, Phu Xuan Ward, Hue City, is dedicated to founding fathers of tuong. This house of great historical and cultural value has been recognized as National Heritage Site.

On October 5, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, in coordination with Hue City Youth Union, organized the “Supporting students to school” scholarship awarding ceremony with the theme “One aspiration - Ten thousand hearts” for 89 new students in Hue City who face difficult circumstances with strong determination.

The Co Tu people in hamlet 5, Nam Dong commune (merged from Huong Xuan, Thuong Nhat and Huong Son communes) still call Village Elder Tran Dinh Lua (72 years old) the “living treasure” of their village. To this day, he is one of the few remaining people who preserve the sacred sound of the gong that has been intertwined with generations of the Co Tu people.
