There have been countless events, stories, and deeply emotional moments captured in Hue during the recent days of flooding, reaching their peak on October 27th and 28th. From the haunting sound of warning sirens echoing through the city, reminding many of Japan’s historic 2011 tsunami, to the sight of 19 railway carriages loaded with rocks sent to help reinforce the Bach Ho Bridge; from the image of a young rescue soldier carrying an elderly woman through the torrent as tenderly as a mother carries her child, to the voice of a ward police chief shouting encouragement over the roaring rain and engines: “Hang in there, ma’am, we’re almost at the hospital! Please don’t fall asleep!”

Hue experiences floods almost every year, but this year’s flood was exceptionally severe. Still, as a “Hanoian” shared on social media: “Natural disasters may grow harsher, and rainfall records may continue to be broken, but the spirit of solidarity, ‘the good leaves shelter the torn ones’, will once again be rekindled and remain eternal”.

Love for Hue and faith that Hue will be safe!

Flood after flood, they persistently cling to their schools and classrooms, visiting each disadvantaged student to offer support and encouragement. In these difficult places, their work is quiet yet unwavering – just like their love for the profession and affection for their students, which never runs dry.
