High-dose Vitamin A Supplementation Campaign Launched in Ethnic Minority Communes
HNN.VN - From August 26 to September 15, the city’s health sector is rolling out the first high-dose Vitamin A supplementation campaign of 2026 for children aged 6 to under 60 months in ethnic minority and mountainous communes. The campaign aims to provide children with essential micronutrients and help reduce malnutrition rates in these areas.

Accordingly, the Vitamin A supplementation campaign will provide supplements to 5,328 children aged 6 to under 60 months.
To ensure the campaign runs safely and effectively, the city’s Center for Disease Control (CDC) is carrying out on-site monitoring at Vitamin A distribution points across the city. The monitoring covers campaign preparations, staffing, public awareness activities, beneficiary management, Vitamin A administration, follow-up after supplementation, record-keeping, and reporting in line with regulations.
As Vitamin A supplies remain limited, the city’s health sector is also urging parents to pay greater attention to their children’s daily diets.
The Institute of Nutrition recommends adding more Vitamin A-rich foods to children’s diets, such as animal liver, eggs, milk, fish, shrimp and crab, along with yellow, red and dark green fruits and vegetables, including carrots, pumpkin, ripe papaya, mangoes, Malabar spinach, amaranth and water spinach. Providing children with a varied, well-balanced diet is key to preventing Vitamin A deficiency and supporting their healthy growth and development.
