Training conference on election procedures for National Assembly and People’s Council deputies

HNN.VN - On the afternoon of February 27th, a training conference on election procedures for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person attendance with online connections to commune and ward-level venues across the city.

Mr. Tran Minh Long, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs, emphasized the special importance of the upcoming election. He requested that agencies and units strictly adhere to legal regulations, proactively develop plans, and thoroughly prepare each stage and step to ensure the election is conducted in a democratic, lawful, safe and cost-effective manner. The training program would help officials directly involved in implementation fully grasp procedures and professional requirements, thereby minimizing potential errors during execution.

Participants were briefed and guided on a range of key contents, focusing on operational procedures for organizing elections of National Assembly deputies and People’s Council deputies at all levels; the process of compiling, reviewing and publicly posting voter lists; guidance on issuing electronic voter certificates for those casting ballots outside their place of residence; measures to ensure security, order and safety at polling stations, as well as the development of contingency plans to promptly handle emerging situations, avoiding passivity or unexpected disruptions.

Election communication was highlighted as a critical task, requiring synchronized, timely and properly oriented implementation. Diversified communication formats were encouraged to enhance awareness and responsibility among officials, Party members and all segments of the population regarding their civic rights and duties in participating in the election.

The discussion session focused on practical issues that may arise at the grassroots level. Many delegates exchanged views and proposed solutions to resolve difficulties encountered during preparation, particularly in reviewing voter lists.

Mr. Tran Minh Long urged agencies and units to promptly review and finalize their plans in line with assigned functions and responsibilities, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and proactively inspect and expedite implementation progress.
