Diligent, passionate, and equipped with a sensible study approach, Van Hung is always confident, composed, and determined in every test and exam. Throughout 12 years of schooling, he has consistently been an excellent student, performing well across all subjects. However, he has shown particular strength and passion in the natural sciences, especially mathematics. His average grade in math during 12th grade was an impressive 9.9 out of 10.

In the recent National High School Graduation Exam, Hung scored a total of 29.75 points in the A00 exam group (Math: 10; Physics: 10; Chemistry: 9.75), making him the highest-scoring A00 candidate in Hue City. Hung shared: “At first, I felt a bit regretful that I didn’t get a perfect score in Chemistry like I did in Math and Physics, just 0.25 more and I would’ve been the national valedictorian. However, I’m still satisfied because I gave it my all. This result is a great motivation for me to keep striving and improving on the road ahead”.

Being asked about his study methods, Van Hung shared: “In class, it’s important to listen carefully to the teacher's explanations and to confidently ask questions and engage in discussions with teachers and classmates. For natural science subjects, in my opinion, it's crucial to have a solid grasp of the theory and a clear understanding of the underlying concepts. Only then can we expand our thinking and solve problems more flexibly. During the learning process, it’s helpful to practice a wide variety of problem types and learn from mistakes to improve our skills. As for math, I always focus on mastering the basic formulas and typical types of problems, while also training my thinking skills to handle more advanced questions”.

To achieve high scores in multiple-choice exams, Hung shared that it’s important to first read through the entire test to understand its structure and allocate time wisely. He recommends securing the basic, easy-to-score questions first, reviewing them carefully multiple times, and then moving on to tackle the more challenging parts. Applying test-taking strategies taught by teachers in class, combined with maintaining a calm and relaxed mindset, also contributed significantly to his success.

The title of being the valedictorian of A00 exam block is a well-deserved result of this young man’s relentless effort, curiosity, and pursuit of knowledge. In Hung’s family, his father works as a freelance laborer and his mother is a factory worker. Although the family's financial situation is modest, they have always done their best to create the most favorable conditions for him to focus on his studies.

To maintain a balance between studying and relaxation, Hung created a well-structured daily schedule. He limits unnecessary phone use and regularly participates in sports such as badminton and soccer, frequently exercises at home, and actively joins in group activities at schools, etc.

Mr. Pham Nguyen Tuan Hai, Hung’s math teacher and also the form teacher of the 12th-grade Math specialized class 2 shared: “Hung is a student with a serious and passionate attitude toward learning. He has strong analytical thinking and effective problem-solving skills. He always works carefully on his assignments and consistently maintains good performance in exams. In class, Hung is friendly and close to his peers, and he actively participates in group activities”.

With a score of 29.75 and the title of national runner-up, Hung shared that he plans to apply for a major in engineering or technology to further develop his analytical thinking and research abilities in the next stage of his academic journey.
