Mid-Autumn Festival has become a traditional beauty of the Vietnamese people, associated with the festival night on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, the customs of carrying Mid-Autumn lanterns around, unicorn dances, feasting and enjoying the moon cakes, etc.

In order to recreate the cultural beauty of celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival of Hue people, the Center for Culture, Information and Sports of Hue City introduces the exhibition and installation space with the theme "Colors on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month", featuring typical images of the Mid-Autumn Festival such as unicorns, drums, lanterns, animal-shaped doughs (tò he), moon cakes, and at the same time introducing a number of crafts related to the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Besides, visitors at the exhibition space can re-discover their childhood memories with the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival trays, animal-shaped lanterns, typical unicorns of Hue, animal-shaped figurines, familiar moon cakes, and also the bustling sound of unicorn drums.

Following the Little Unicorn Dancers

In the days leading up to the Mid-Autumn Festival, the children in my neighborhood have been joyfully practicing. Calling it a “unicorn dance troupe” sounds grand, but in fact, it’s just about a dozen kids from grades 1 to 7. One contributes an old drum, another brings a unicorn head or a Mr. Earth mask, while some dig through closets for their mothers’ Ao dai, … all gathered together to form an eager, lively team of little unicorn dancers.
