Improving skills to prevent drowning accidents

HNN.VN - A professional training course for swimming and diving lifeguards in 2025, organized by the Department of Culture and Sports, is taking place from May 15 to 19 at the city's Sports Center (the swimming pool at 2 Le Quy Don Street). A large number of trainees from the sports and education sectors, as well as water sports businesses in the city, are participating.

During the training course, the trainees are introduced to Decree No. 48/2019/ND-CP dated June 5, 2019, of the Government on the management of operations of means serving water-based recreation and entertainment; disseminated on several amendments in the Law amending and supplementing the Law on Physical Training and Sports in 2018; several documents and circulars of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism related to sports activities requiring instructors, adventure sports, regulations on facilities, equipment, and expertise for jet skiing at sea; and an overview of the current situation in the prevention of water-related accidents in the city.

In the practical session, besides checking swimming and diving skills, trainees are instructed in rescue and drowning prevention techniques.

“The course aims to equip and improve the capacity and qualifications of officials, teachers, sports instructors, and lifeguards to ensure professional standards according to regulations, thereby effectively implementing the Safe Swimming and Drowning Prevention Program in 2025,” said Mr. Bui Thanh Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports.
