Growing yellow apricot blossoms for Tet

TTH.VN - Hue yellow apricot trees come into bloom only once by the end of December in lunar calendar, and their branches develop slowly. Because of these characteristics, to have beautiful-shaped yellow apricot trees which bloom on the occasion of Tet holiday, flower growers need a lot of experience and patience.

At the end of the year, due to non-stop rain, cold, and humid weather, it is even more elaborate to care for yellow apricots. Thua Thien Hue Online shares with you photographs of the process yellow apricots are cultivated by flower growers in Hue.

For Hue people, a pot of yellow apricot blossoms is a must to celebrate Tet.

In the lowland or places with limited land, pots of yellow apricots are kept on scaffolds. This is not only to prevent them from being flooded, but also to help them absorb enough sunlight.

In Le Duan park, there are hundreds of yellow apricot trees under the management of Hue Greenery Parks Center. When it becomes sunny and dry, workers are quickly mobilized to remove the leaves of the apricot trees for several days on end.

Whether in public places or in local people’s houses, yellow apricot trees are carefully looked after in preparation for Tet.

The yellow apricot tree of the retired teacher Nguyen Duc Dat (85 years old, living at 10/220 Nguyen Sinh Cung street and having grown yellow apricots for more than 50 years) is priced at over VND 60 million.

For Mr. Nguyen Van Thinh, (70 years old, living in Phu Duong commune, Phu Vang district), Hue yellow apricots are his confidantes, and he talks with them daily.

Mr. Ty, aged 35, from Dao Vien flower garden on Nguyen Chi Thanh street, has lived on growing yellow apricots since he was in his 20s. He takes daily care of yellow apricot trees for families and agencies. By the end of the year, they will come to his garden to take their blooming apricots home for decoration in Tet holiday.
