Currently, trade unions at all levels are concentrating resources on caring for union members and employees during Tet Holiday with the principle: "Every union members and employees deserves adecent Tet Holiday." Top priority is given to those in particularly difficult circumstances, such asvictims of workplace accident, individuals with occupational or severe illnesses, and sufferers of natural disasters or job losses. Care is also extended to union members and employees who have been unable to return home in celebration of Tet Holiday for years, as well as those staying at their units or enterprises during Tet to ensure continuous operations.
Specifically, 10% of union members and employees with low incomes will receive Tet Holiday gifts worth 500,000 VND per person. For those in particularly difficult situations, the financial aid increases to 1.3 million VND per person. These gifts not only provide material support but also serve as a source of emotional encouragement, helping union members and employees celebrate Tet Holiday with joy, regardless of their circumstances.
In addition, trade unions are hastily preparing for the “2025 Trade Union Tet Fair,” scheduled to take place on January 19, 2025 (the 20th day of the 12th lunar month) at the City Labor Culture House. The fair will feature dozens of booths offering thousands of essential goods and services for union members and employees. All goods are guaranteed to be of high quality, with prices reduced by at least 10% compared to the listed price or the usual market price.
A highlight of the fair is the “Zero-VND Ao Dai” booth, which will provide hundreds of free Ao Daifor female union members and employees in difficult circumstances. There will also be health consultation and free medical check-up areas. Additionally, the program includes activities such as contests of Tet cake- wrapping and ginger jam making, as well as traditional folk games, creating a cheerful and warm festive atmosphere.
Ms. Tran Thi Minh Nguyet, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of Hue City Federation of Labor, shared: “With the principle that all union members and employees deserve a decent Tet Holiday, we began making plans months ago. To better care for union members and employees during Tet Holiday, we are not only relying on union funds but also actively mobilizing contributions from organizations, units, and businesses.”

As a unit with a large number of union members and employees in enterprises, Ms. Le Thi Thu Nam, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of the City Economic and Industrial Zones, noted: “At this point, most businesses have announced Tet bonuses for employees, with a minimum reward equivalent to one month's salary. The Trade Union of the Economic and Industrial Zones is proactively collaborating with unions of other enterprises to review labor employees' contracts, collective agreements, as well assalary and bonus regulations. The goal is to ensure all salary and Tet bonus policies for employees arefully implemented in accordance with agreements.”
The union is also guiding grassroots unions to urge employers to promptly and transparently inform employees about their plans and timelines for salary payments, raises, and other allowances during the upcoming Lunar New Year. Timely payment of wages and bonuses is critical to avoiding delays or arrears, ensuring that workers enjoy a warm and happy New Year of the Wood Snake.
