231 pregnant women taken to safe typhoon shelters

HNN.VN - In response to the complex developments of Typhoon No. 12, the Health sector of Hue City has implemented synchronous measures to ensure the safety of people, especially pregnant women, the elderly, and vulnerable groups.

According to statistics, the city has 728 pregnant women due to give birth from October 22 to November 15, many of whom are in areas directly affected by the typhoon. Hue City's Department of Health mobilized and transported 231 pregnant women whose estimated delivery dates coincided with the arrival of Typhoon No. 12 to 9 medical centers in the area for care, health monitoring, and safety assurance.

In addition to moving pregnant women to safe locations, medical centers coordinated with families and local authorities to guide residents to evacuate from low-lying, and flooded areas. The 115 Emergency Center and affiliated hospitals were required to be on duty 24/24 hours, ready to respond to any emergency.

Hue City's Department of Health also established working groups led by the Department's leaders to inspect typhoon prevention and control efforts at medical centers in low-lying areas, and at high risk of deep flooding including Quang Dien, Phong Dien, Huong Tra, Phu Vang, and Huong Thuy, etc. These units were asked to review facilities, proactively preserve equipment, medicines, chemicals, and ensure that medical examination and treatment services are not interrupted during and after the typhoon.

The Health sector of Hue City affirmed that protecting the safety of pregnant women, newborns, patients, and people in flooded areas is the top priority during the response effort to this typhoon.
