1.5 billion VND in support for union members and workers in Hue affected by flood

HNN.VN - On the morning of November 10th, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and President of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) Nguyen Dinh Khang visited Hue City to offer encouragement and present relief aid to trade union members and workers severely affected by the historic floods occurred in late October 2025.

Speaking at the event, President Nguyen Dinh Khang noted that Hue was among the localities most heavily affected by the recent flooding, which directly disrupted the lives and livelihoods of thousands of workers. VGCL will closely monitor the situation and direct trade unions at all levels to assess local conditions and promptly support affected members, ensuring that “no one is left behind.”

On behalf of the VGCL, Mr. Khang presented a symbolic donation of 1 billion VND to assist union members and workers in Hue City impacted by the floods. On this occasion, Tuoi Tre Newspaper also contributed an additional 500 million VND, joining forces with the VGCL to provide relief and encouragement to workers in flood-affected areas.

Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Nguyen Chi Tai expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, the VGCL delegation, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, and partner organizations for their timely concern and support for Hue during this difficult period. He stressed that the financial and emotional support offered that day carried not only material value but also great spiritual encouragement, helping workers stay resilient in overcoming post-disaster hardships.

“On behalf of the city’s leadership, we pledge to use the VGCL’s support funding effectively and for the right purposes, ensuring it reaches the intended beneficiaries, helping union members and workers recover from storm and flood damage and stabilize their lives and jobs,” said Mr. Nguyen Chi Tai.

Immediately after the event, the VGCL delegation visited Victortex Hue Co., Ltd. in Quang Dien Commune, where they distributed 60 relief packages, each worth 2 million VND, directly to affected workers.

The delegation concluded the program with a visit to Vy Da Ward to offer condolences and incense at the home of a union member who tragically lost his/her life during the floods. The timely and heartfelt support from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and partner organizations has reinforced trust, compassion, and solidarity, helping Hue’s union members and workers find renewed strength to move forward after the disaster.
