Hue businesses severely affected by flood

HNN.VN - After the historic flood at the end of October, many businesses, production facilities, and household businesses in Hue City were seriously affected. Deep and prolonged flooding caused damage to machinery, equipment, and goods, and disrupted business operations. Despite the significant damage, these units are striving to recover so as to quickly stabilize production and maintain jobs for workers.

At Linh Vy Food Service Trading Co., Ltd., Ms. Tran Thi Anh Vy, Director of the company, stated that the company's freezer warehouse was deeply flooded, about 17 - 18 tons of frozen goods had to be destroyed. “We are transporting the remaining goods to a temporary cold storage facility in Thuan An for preservation. This is the heaviest loss since the company was established in 2018,” shared Ms. Vy.

Similarly, the Banh ep Gia Di brand, owned by Tukcha Banh ep Gia Di Co., Ltd., was also heavily affected, with both of its facilities on Nguyen Hue and Phung Chi Kien streets were flooded from 0.7 to over 1 meter deep. According to Ms. Le Thi Di, the founder, the entire refrigeration system, computers, and food processing equipment were damaged, with estimated losses of about 200 - 300 million VND. “We are urgently cleaning up and replacing equipment, and expect to reopen in the next few days,” said Ms. Di.

Not only the manufacturing sector, but technology companies were also impacted. Mr. Le Van Viet, Director of iPOS.vn Joint Stock Company - Hue Branch, said that many customers who use iPOS's sales software suffered from flooding and equipment damage. “We have sent technical teams to provide support, lend backup machines, and sell replacement equipment at cost price to help customers resume operations quickly,” informed Mr. Viet.

Despite suffering many losses, Hue business community still demonstrates a spirit of proactivity and resilience in the face of natural disasters - both addressing the consequences and maintaining production.

According to Ms. Dang Thi Duong, Chairwoman of Hue City Women Entrepreneurs Association, almost all members of the Association were affected by the flood. “In some places, the water was over 2 meters deep, goods and equipment were completely damaged. Many women had to move goods overnight, but still could not react in time,” said Ms. Duong. The Association is currently compiling a summary of the damages, and proposing credit, tax, and insurance support to help businesses recover their operations soon.
