Featured on the front page of this weekend’s edition of Hue Today Weekly is an article titled ‘Taking Decisive Action to Bring About Substantive Changes in Every Task’ by Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung, Member of PCV Central Committee, Secretary of Hue City Party Committee, and Head of Hue City National Assembly Delegation.
As a centrally-governed municipality, Hue must embrace a new mindset and adopt new approaches to leadership, governance, and implementation. The city must ensure that its advantages in culture, heritage, human resources, education, healthcare, science and technology, as well as its sea and lagoon ecosystems, are translated into tangible development outcomes rather than remaining untapped potential. Four key challenges lie ahead, including Achieving a major transformation in institutions and the organizational apparatus; Generating new growth drivers for the economy; Putting infrastructure development one step ahead; and Creating breakthroughs in science and technology and human resource development. The article stresses that without determined and resolute implementation, the best-designed action program will fail to deliver meaningful change.
On page 2, the Forum section features Dan Duy’s detailed and humane perspectives on the ongoing ‘Land Donation for Road Expansion’ campaign in Hue: ‘Hue has emerged as a bright spot in the ‘‘Land Donation for Road Expansion” campaign. In a relatively short period, since 2024 up to now, the initiative has gained widespread public support through the principle of “The State and the People Working Together”, with party members taking the lead by example, and voluntariness and transparency at its core’. Meanwhile, Kim Oanh raises an issue that is also attracting considerable attention these days: ‘Developing a vibrant nighttime economy without creating excessive noise should be Hue’s guiding principle. The city needs to take a measured approach and develop a well-structured strategy for its nighttime economy. This is one of Hue’s distinctive competitive advantages’. On page 3, the Meeting section features an interview by Vo Nhan, reporter, with Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang, discussing the value and impact of the ‘Hue Sports Festival 2026’, as well as the city’s upcoming strategies for developing sports tourism as a driver of economic growth.
“A sustainable sports movement cannot rely entirely on the State. The government should focus on setting the direction, creating a favorable environment, and providing the necessary support, while businesses, clubs, and the community should take the lead in organizing and driving activities. Hue Sports Festival should not be viewed merely as a series of sporting events. With each edition, it is creating a platform for people to stay active and improve their health, for sports clubs to grow, for businesses to get involved in, and for localities and athletes from across the country to get to know more about Hue,” said Vice Chairman Tran Huu Thuy Giang.
