According to the draft resolution, the proposed entrance fee for Hai Van Frontier Post is VND 70,000 per visitor per entry, applied uniformly to both domestic and international tourists. The fee collection will be managed by Hue Monuments of Conservation Center.

Notably, the draft proposes a 50% discount for several groups, including beneficiaries of cultural preferential policies, people with severe disabilities, senior citizens, low-income households, residents of Hue and Danang, students from universities, colleges, and vocational schools in Hue and Danang, as well as students nationwide participating in pre-registered study tours and extracurricular learning programs.

Furthermore, the ticket exemption will be applied on main holidays, including Lunar New Year; Hue Liberation Day (March 26); Da Nang Liberation Day (March 29); August Revolution Day (August 19); National Day (September 2), and Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23).

Additionally, children under 13, school pupils participating in annual extracurricular activities, working delegations, partners, and media organizations conducting research, reporting, or promotion at the site, along with certain other special cases, will be granted free admission in accordance with the decision of the Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee.

Regarding revenue management and use, the draft stipulates that 100% of the proceeds will be allocated to the management, conservation, restoration, and promotion of Hai Van Frontier Post. At least 20% of the revenue will be earmarked for maintenance and repairs. If revenues are insufficient to cover operating costs, the local budget will make up the shortfall in accordance with regulations.

Tourists learning about the heritage site

The restoration of Hai Van Frontier Post began in late 2021 with a total budget of about VND 42 billion, jointly funded by Thua Thien Hue Province (now Hue City) and Danang City, each contributing 50%. Following the restoration, the site has gradually regained its original appearance and has become an increasingly popular tourist attraction.

Hai Van Frontier Post was originally built during the Tran Dynasty and underwent major restoration in 1826 under Emperor Minh Mang. The northern gate facing Hue bears the inscription “Hai Van Frontier Post”, while the side facing Quang Nam (now Danang) reads “The Greatest Pass Under Heaven”. Under the Nguyen Dynasty, it served as a key military outpost guarding the southern gateway to Hue Ancient Capital.

With its outstanding historical, cultural, and scenic value, Hai Van Frontier Post was designated a national historical and architectural relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2017, making a significant contribution to tourism development in both Hue and Danang.
