Art performances captivated the audience throughout the show

The art program “Ao Dai Hue” opened the Community Ao Dai Week - one of the highlights of the Summer Festival 2025, which was officially kicked off on the evening of June 6th at the An Dinh Palace heritage site.

Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Phuong, along with representatives from international organizations, central ministries, local authorities, numerous guests, and residents, attended and enjoyed the performance.

With the theme “The flow of history and eternal beauty”, the program guided viewers through the historical journey of Ao Dai, from ancient times to the present day, through unique and creative collections that were rich in tradition yet woven even more with modern innovations. Each Ao Dai showcased in the night was a slice of culture, an image of the homeland, a breath of the nation.

The audience was immersed in the collections of traditional garments of the North, the Ngu Than (five-piece dress) and Nhat Binh dress of Hue, and Ao Dai of the South. Interspersed were collections using contemporary and modern materials, including bridal Ao Dai.

More than just a visual performance, the show seamlessly blended with music and dance - sweet love songs and graceful movements echoed the flowing rhythm of silk. In this way, the story of the Ao Dai was told not only through fabric but also through the heartfelt sentiments of those who love Hue and Vietnamese culture.

The program also featured an East Asia - Vietnam cultural exchange, where the Ao Dai Vietnam stood alongside Japan’s Kimono, Korea’s Hanbok, and China’s Changshan. Together, they created a dazzling art performance that highlighted Hue’s heritage.

Following the opening night, the Community Ao Dai Week will continue with various events and art programs until June 15th. These include the “Ao Dai passing down the streets” cycling for the environment event, the “Ao Dai back to the roots”, the “Colors of culture” art program, the “Ao Dai - The grace of the Aincient Capital” show, the “Viet Phong gathering” parade, the “Ao Dai flashmob”, the “Ao Dai with Phuoc Tich pottery” fashion show, a countryside market parade titled “Ao Dai returns to heritage,” the “Ao Dai in schools” seminar, a children’s painting exhibition themed “Ao Dai and childhood,” the “Ao Dai - A child’s joy” celebration night, and a commemorative incense-offering ceremony for Lord Nguyen Phuc Khoat and Emperor Minh Mang.

According to the organizers, Community Ao Dai Week aims to honor the traditional beauty of the Ao Dai Vietnam. Beyond that, the event also seeks to promote tourism, showcase the land and people of Hue to domestic and international friends, and strengthen community bonds through art performances, parades, seminars, exhibitions, sports, and educational activities.
