HNN.VN - Inspired by patterns on Nine Dynastic Urns of the Nguyen Dynasty, which located in Hue Imperial Citadel, nearly 60 wood engraving artworks have been curated and introduced to the public on the morning of March 19th at Le Ba Dang Art Center (Hue Museum of Fine Arts, 15 Le Loi Street, Hue City).

A corner of the exhibition attracting visitors’ attention

There, images such as phenomenon of the sky, mythical creatures, landscapes, territorial waters, rivers and mountains, animals, insects, herbs, architecture, palanquins, boats, weapons... have been meticulously and impressively transformed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trang Thanh Hien (Vietnam University of Fine Arts) and her team.

These artworks are seen as a continuation of the source taken from the Nine Dynastic Urns, offering a different perspective on heritage. Instead of viewing the Nine Dynastic Urns as cultural heritage associated with a bygone era, through the art of wood engraving, the project creators aim to “market” the Nine Dynastic Urns using new forms to promote a special heritage of Vietnamese cultural history.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trang Thanh Hien, with the launch of this exhibition together with the project's development directions in the future, the author's team hopes to contribute a small part to accompany the process of bringing the Nine Dynastic Urns closer to the goal of becoming a World Documentary Heritage in the future - a task currently being promoted by Hue Monuments Conservation Centre.

The exhibition is open until March 25th.
