In 2025, the city’s industrial production index (IIP) was estimated to rise by 12.87%. Commercial activity recorded solid growth, with a wide range of goods and services meeting consumer demand. The supply of goods across the city remained secure, with no shortages or major fluctuations. Prices, particularly for food and essential commodities, stayed relatively stable thanks to ample supply. Total retail sales of goods and consumer services were estimated at about 65,745,7 billion VND, up 14,7% year-on-year and equivalent to 95.3% of the 2025 plan.

In 2026, the industry and trade sector will continue to submit to the City People’s Committee on the formulation and implementation of the city’s industrial development plan for the 2025-2030 period, with a vision to 2045. Key tasks will focus on developing a free trade zone, enhancing business competitiveness, promoting e-commerce, and implementing programs to develop supporting industries.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman Phan Quy Phuong acknowledged and commended the efforts and achievements of the Department of Industry and Trade in 2025. He also urged the department to focus on industrial development toward higher value-added, modern and environmentally friendly production; mobilize resources for synchronized investment in infrastructure for economic zones and industrial parks and clusters, with priority given to key driving projects; strive for a 16-17% increase in the industrial production index in 2026; and improve state management under the two-tier local government model by strengthening decentralization, administrative reform, and the application of information technology and digital transformation.

Additionally, the sector will have to focus on supporting businesses and addressing difficulties, strengthening trade promotion, expanding markets, and developing e-commerce and the digital economy. Efforts will also be made to ensure energy security, promote the efficient and sustainable use of energy and renewable sources, strengthen market management, and protect consumer rights. Close coordination with relevant departments and localities will be enhanced, alongside intensified legal communications to improve discipline, order, and the effectiveness of management and operations across the sector.

While the morning mist still lingers over the streets, Hue’s flower market is already awake before dawn. At the market along Ngo Kha Street in Phu Xuan Ward, near the wholesale market, warm yellow lights spill over bundles of flowers still in bud. The sharp revving of motorbikes, vendors calling out to one another, and brisk bargaining create a unique rhythm of the final days of the lunar year.
