The spaces on the two sides of the Huong River will be brighter and more beautiful after the project of the lighting system for the parks in this area is completed and put into operation

With an aim to exploit the potential and beauty of the spaces on the two sides of the Huong River, in 2 years from 2019 to 2020, the People’s Committee of Hue city has invested tens of billions VND to renovate and complete the network connecting the pedestrian streets in the south and north of the Huong River, including the projects invested in constructing the pedestrian street from Truong Tien Bridge to Ho Chi Minh Museum (the southern bank) and the walking path from Truong Tien Bridge to Ben Me area (the northern bank).

After completing these two routes, the number of tourists and Hue local people coming to visit and go jogging will be more and more crowded, creating a new place for sightseeing and entertainment for Hue.

Together with the walking paths along the two sides of the Huong River, the city has invested in upgrading and renovating the park system on the area of the two sides of the Huong River such as Thuong Bac Park, Ly Tu Trong Park, as well as Vuon Mai (Ochnaceae garden), An Hoa, and Phu Xuan Parks, etc. with the aims to embellish the landscape and beautify the area of the two sides of the Huong River, at the same time to exploit the potential towards the development of tourism services in these areas. The People’s Committee of Hue City is planning to request funding from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) about the project of the walking path extending to Da Vien islet.

After the projects of renovating space on Huong riversides were gradually being completed, in 2020, the city focuses on carrying out the project of investing in the lighting system for the parks on the two sides of the Huong River by appointing Hue Urban Environment and Public Works Joint Stock Company to propose the plan, in which the total investment is about 50 billion VND, and it is expected that the work will be completed before Hue Festival 2020.

In the survey of the lighting system and the walking paths on the two banks of the Huong River in late January 2020, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Ngoc Tho requested Hue City to develop the detailed plan for the project of lighting system, in which putting the work of lighting on the two banks of the Huong River into the overall lighting plan of the city; especially the areas of Le Loi, Le Duan, Tran Hung Dao streets and the highlighted works surrounding the city, etc.

The provincial chairman requested that in the investment in the lighting system, it is necessary that the lighting system could be exploited from various scenic views such as from the walking path, on the scenic highpoints to the bridges spanning the Huong River, etc. At the same time, the city should pay attention to set the local lighting in some areas having highlighted works, especially those having monuments; considering the lighting plan of Bui Thi Xuan Park connecting with the lighting of Music Academy and the Hotel No.05 Le Loi Street.

Head of Hue City’s Urban Management Department, Mr. Nguyen Viet Bang informed that in addition to renovating the spaces on the two banks of the Huong River, the city is implementing the renovation of Le Loi street including the articles such as paving the road surface, paving the sidewalks with stone, planting green trees, and, at the same time carrying out the plan of dismantling the concrete fences on both front and back sides of the offices on the two banks of Huong River such as Le Ba Dang Art Museum, Hue Cultural Museum, and some other units to replace them with the soft fences with an aim to create the highlight for the route of Le Loi street and Nguyen Dinh Chieu walking path, contributing to perfecting the landscape for the areas around the two banks of the Huong River.
