Strengthening cooperation with foreign non-governmental organizations

HNN.VN - On November 28, the Provincial People's Committee organized the Meeting with foreign non-governmental organizations in Thua Thien Hue province in 2024. In attendance at the meeting were Ms. Trinh Thi Mai Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

The conference also serves as a forum for exchanging, sharing experiences, and proposing solutions among local government management agencies, project implementing partners, and funding organizations to enhance the effectiveness of mobilizing, managing, and implementing foreign non-governmental aid projects in the coming time. At the same time, the conference evaluates the effectiveness of foreign non-governmental aid projects, as well as the difficulties and limitations in mobilizing, managing, and implementing such projects.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that Thua Thien Hue always pays attention to promoting foreign affairs and international integration, focusing on building good relationships with foreign non-governmental organizations, mobilizing resources to implement sponsored programs and projects, as well as attracting investment to effectively implement many models, thereby solving a number of economic, social, and environmental issues.

Currently, there are 87 foreign non-governmental organizations operating within the province; of which, 17 organizations have representative offices in Hue. From 2022 to the present, Thua Thien Hue has attracted 106 aid packages with a committed capital of nearly 10 million USD. These project and non-project aid packages are implemented in many fields, mainly focusing on bomb mine clearance, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, agricultural and rural development combined with sustainable poverty reduction, supporting socio-economic development, health, culture, education, and addressing social issues; supporting women, children, and people with disabilities, etc.

Ms. Skye Ellen Maconachie, Co-CEO of the Blue Dragon International (BDI - Australia), expressed her desire to continue receiving timely support and feedback on managing and implementing project activities in the coming years, as well as advice on designing new projects to better meet the needs of the people. She also said that project activities will gradually be transferred to local authorities, taking the ownership and ensure the sustainability of effective operating models.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee also commended 7 collectives, 4 foreign organizations, and 18 individuals for their outstanding contributions to foreign non-governmental activities in Thua Thien Hue Province during the period of 2022 - 2024.
