From the invitation of Vietnamese Embassy in Australia, from January 31st to February 8th, 2026, Hue City Art Troupe organizes a series of art performances and cultural presentations introducing Hue and Vietnam in three major Australian cities. The trip is part of Hue City’s key cultural diplomacy activities, aiming to strengthen people-to-people exchanges, promote cultural and tourism cooperation, and publicize the image of a heritage city to international friends.
The programs are organized by Hue City People’s Committee in coordination with Vietnamese Embassy in Australia, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney, and the Consulate of Vietnam in Perth; Hue Monuments Conservation Center serves as the implementing agency. The activities are designed to combine traditional art performances, destination promotion, tourism communication, and partnership networking, with a focus on presenting Hue as a distinctive heritage city and Vietnam’s Festival City.
The first stop of the Hue City Art Troupe was Sydney. On the evening of February 1st, 2026 (local time), within the framework of the Community Tet Festival in this port city, a performance program of Hue Royal Court Music took place.
The performances, presented by artists of Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theatre, selectively introduce representative works of Hue Royal Court Music and Hue Royal Court Dances. In a setting steeped in the cultural legacy of the former capital, international audiences have the opportunity to experience the aesthetic depth of court culture, discover Vietnamese cultural identity, and sense the continuity of heritage in contemporary life. The activity also serves as a “bridge” bringing the flavor of the homeland’s Tet to overseas Vietnamese, evoking cultural pride and a sense of connection to their roots.
Alongside the art programs, Hue City also introduces to the Australian public the image of a destination rich in heritage, with eight world cultural heritages inscribed by UNESCO, most notably the Complex of Hue Monuments. Cultural values associated with nature, the festival spaces of Hue Festival, and the orientation toward sustainable heritage tourism development are conveyed as a message of a heritage city that is dynamically transforming, integrating, yet preserving profound cultural identity.
According to the organizers, this is a strategic step in positioning the image of Hue - from a heritage capital to a creative and dynamic city; thereby, confirming the role of culture in people’s diplomacy and opening prospects for attracting the Australian tourism market to Hue in particular and Vietnam in general.
After Sydney, Hue City Art Troupe continues its journey to Darwin and Canberra, carrying the distinctive cultural values of the former capital, contributing to deepening Vietnam - Australia friendship through the soft power of heritage and traditional arts.
