 Delegates attending the conference

Since 2015, the Mitani Sangyo Group has annually organized Aureole Conference with the theme of developing high-quality human resources for businesses in Vietnam. In the previous seven editions of the conference, Government agencies, businesses and universities discussed issues of concern, focusing on the know-how of "attracting, nurturing and retaining high-quality human resources in Vietnam". This is also the issue facing many Japanese businesses doing business in Vietnam.

With the keyword "Cross-cultural connections" in this conference, the organizers want to create a forum to discuss and consider organizational methods that can maximize the overall performance by transforming diversity into creativity and working capacity, based on the premise of teams including members from different countries and ethnicities, with different cultural origins.

A representative of Mitani Sangyo Group shared that Hue had always been known as a developing city, which was renowned for its long history and culture, and home to precious heritages belonging to the last dynasty of Vietnam. Along with valuing history and traditional culture, the province is actively investing in the information technology (IT) sector, human resource development, and new industries. The Japanese government attaches great importance to highly skilled human resources, and expects countries, first of all, Vietnam in general and Hue in particular, to focus on training high-quality human resources early so that businesses can recruit and engage with them for a long term.

According to Mr. Phan Quoc Son, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Planning and Investment, in the coming time, Thua Thien Hue hopes to cooperate with Japanese investors and businesses to develop infrastructure in the Economic Zone and industrial parks, as well as developing the manufacturing, processing, electronics, and automobile manufacturing industries, etc., so as to participate in the global value chain. At the same time, it is also investing in high-tech zones for pharmaceuticals, biology, health, and information technology; developing logistics services associated with seaports and airports, and investing in world-class tourist areas and urban areas; in addition, developing tourism services, trade, cultural industry, health care services, education, training, science, technology and high value-added services, etc.

This is one of the events commemorating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam.

Vietnam’s oldest cadastral record preserved in Hue

Hue is a land that bears the imprint of the southward migration and territorial expansion undertaken more than 700 years ago by the people of ancient Thuan Hoa. Very few documents reveal the timing of these migration waves or the organization and formation of Vietnamese villages in the region. Yet during fieldwork, I gained access to several ancient Han-Nom documents recording the migration, land reclamation, and establishment of villages and communes. Most notably is a cadastral record dating to the 9th year of the Dai Hoa reign (1451) under King Le Nhan Tong, compiled exactly 575 years ago.
