Luxembourg funds adaptation and mitigation to climate change project

HNN.VN - Two projects on adaptation and mitigation to climate change, which are funded by Luxembourg Climate and Energy Fund (CEF) of Luxembourg’s Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, will be implemented in three districts of Quang Dien, Phu Vang, and Phu Loc; and NAMA –the energy efficient lighting system will be piloted in Hue city.

The total implementation expenditure is 4.5 million Euros; in which, Luxembourg funds 4 million Euros, and corresponding capital from the provincial budget is 500.000 Euros.

In the period of 2013-2017, CEF also funded the “Climate-Adapted Local Development & Innovation” project in the province, with the total implementation expenditure of 10 million Euros (in which, corresponding capital from the Vietnamese Government budget is 2 million Euros). This project was deployed at 29 lagoon communes in three districts of Quang Dien, Phu Vang, and Phu Loc.

In the launching ceremony speech for the two projects on adaptation and mitigation to climate change funded by CEF on June 18, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong pledged to direct the Project Management Board to coordinate well with the sponsor, comply with the signed cooperation document, manage the finance strictly so as to ensure all is spent on the right purposes, and promote community democracy in all the steps of designing, supervision of construction as well as management, exploitation and operation of the project works.
