Continuing Medical Education course on transferring technology of "Total shoulder Replacement" for doctors in the Central Highland region

With the support of Orthonations from the United States (USA), from 9th to 12th of July, Hue International Treatment Center, Hue Central Hospital organized the CME course on "Total shoulder replacement" for doctors operating in orthopedics from hospitals in Central Highland region of Vietnam.

During the period of time mentioned above, 12 members of Orthonations focused on the exchange and sharing of theories and practice on total shoulder replacement techniques, such as: anatomy, biomechanics, assessment of X-rays before and after surgery, approaches and complications in shoulder arthroplasty... At the same time, they also update new knowledge related to shoulder arthroplasty, such as humerus reaming, insertion of the humeral implant, glenoid measurement and reaming.

This is the fourth time that Hue Central Hospital cooperated with Orthonations in order to transfer advanced and modern techniques to help orthopedic doctors in the Central Highland Region develop their expertise, master the techniques in orthopedic surgery for patients.

On this occasion, five patients had shoulder replacement surgeries performed by doctors from Othonations and the doctors at Hue Central Hospital for free.

7-year-old patient successfully receives bone marrow transplant, no longer dependent on blood transfusions

On the morning of March 25, Hue Central Hospital announced that it had held a discharge ceremony for a pediatric patient with thalassemia (a hereditary blood disorder) following a successful bone marrow transplant using marrow donated by the patient’s older sister. This is the 15th thalassemia bone marrow transplant performed at the hospital, marking an important step forward in the treatment of genetic hematologic diseases.
