Hue is gradually undertaking the inventory, research and development of a database of its Buddhist woodblocks, with the aim of completing a nomination dossier for UNESCO recognition of Hue Buddhist woodblocks as documentary heritage. This process must go hand in hand with practical conservation measures to safeguard these valuable historical sources for generations to come and promote the cultural and historical values preserved in each carved block.

On the afternoon of October 30, An Cuu Ward People’s Committee held a consultation meeting on the historical epic performance ‘Nguyen Hue’s coronation’, themed ‘Mount Ban - The heroic spirit of Quang Trung’.

Inspired by visits to historical sites, two students from Dang Van Hoa Secondary School in Phong Thai Ward have created a digital museum featuring nearly 200 artifacts from 15 heritage sites in Hue. Their project won Third prize in the final round of the 2026 National Young Informatics Contest.

On the afternoon of 30/9, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Le Tri Thanh led a survey of several heritage sites and cultural spaces to assess their current conditions and study ways to promote their historical, architectural and landscape values.

Nestled deep within the Huong Dien Hydropower Reservoir area in Khe Trai (Huong Tra Ward, Hue City), the Tri-Thien-Hue Regional Party Committee’s tunnel complex was the headquarters of the Regional Party Committee and Hue City Party Committee. From this underground base, they directed all activities of the liberation forces before and after the 1968 Spring offensive. Today, the site stands as a striking historical relic amid a picturesque landscape of mountains, rivers, and sky.

The City Historical Science Association set out this goal at its 7th Congress (2026 - 2031 term), held on August 25.

On August 19 and September 2, Vietnamese citizens will be granted free admission to heritage sites managed by Hue Monuments Conservation Center. The initiative offers an opportunity for visitors to explore Hue’s heritage during the public holidays, while gaining deeper understanding of the historical and cultural values of the Ancient Capital.

In the course of researching the cultural heritage of the Nguyen Dynasty in the former Hue imperial capital, researchers often come across precious materials that have been preserved among local families, quietly surviving in the spaces of communal houses, pagodas, ancestral worship halls, or aristocratic residences. Layer upon layer of historical sediment is gradually being brought to light.

Many royal decrees, Han-Nom manuscripts, and cadastral records preserved in Hue have suffered gradual deterioration due to the impacts of time and climatic conditions. Restoration and conservation work has therefore become a means of safeguarding these valuable documents, allowing their historical values to continue to be passed down to future generations.

As Hue City advances its development as a centrally governed heritage city, the need to fully identify and recognize the city's cultural, historical, landscape, and human values has become increasingly urgent.
