On the morning of April 20, Hue City Institute for Development Studies, in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City, organized a training workshop titled: “Applying Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Standards in Production and Business Operations: Sustainable Solutions to Expand Markets and Supply Chains”.

Strictly complying with quality standards, building product reputation, establishing reasonable pricing, ensuring legal conditions, being more proactive in distribution, while also creating a favorable environment for sustainable product development... were the issues that many businesses, cooperatives, and distributors were particularly concerned about at the 2025 Conference on Connecting and Promoting Agricultural Products, Specialties, and Handicrafts Consumption, which was held on the afternoon of August 16 in Quang Dien Commune.

For four consecutive years, Hue City has ranked among the top 10 provinces and cities nationwide in the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI). This is a remarkable achievement for Thua Thien Hue (now Hue City), especially in the context of increasingly fierce competition among localities to attract investment. The result not only reflects a stable business and investment environment, but also demonstrates a significant shift in governance mindset and the improved quality of the civil servants – a pioneering force in building a service-oriented government.

“Enterprises make a significant contribution to the economy. Therefore, in its development orientation, Hue City consistently focuses on creating an environment that fosters and promotes business growth,” shared Mr. Phan Quoc Son, Deputy Director of Hue City’s Department of Finance, with Hue Today Weekly.

In the context of the global economy shifting toward sustainable development, businesses in Thua Thien Hue are constantly innovating to keep pace with the times. More and more consumers are paying attention to products made with sustainable and environmentally friendly processes. This motivates businesses in the province to establish themselves on the national and international economic map.

A two-place drop in the 2023 PCI (Provincial Competitiveness Index) in the rankings notwithstanding, many component indexes have improved significantly, speaking volumes for the province's efforts in improving the investment and business environment in recent years.

Economic and industrial zones in the province are key areas for attracting investment. However, in order to capture the attention of significant investors, it is necessary to create an open environment with many solutions to support businesses.
