After many years of sustaining their lives through regular blood transfusions, many pediatric patients suffering from congenital hemolytic anemia (Thalassemia) have now found the “light at the end of the tunnel” thanks to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at Hue Central Hospital. From these successful transplant cases, a door of hope has opened, bringing the children a healthy, normal life and complete joy after so many difficult days.

In Da Lay commune (Da Teh district, Lam Dong province), the new homeland of the people from Hue today, it is hard to recognize the traces of the hardships from nearly half a century ago. On April 21, Hue Dental Hospital, in collaboration with Operation Smile, organized a humanitarian medical examination and treatment team integrated into School Dental Health program in Huong Tra Town and Phu Vang District.

On November 11th, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University and the Hospital of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy welcomed the Alliance for Smiles Organization and the Rotary Club of Saigon to launch a surgery program for children with cleft lips and palates.

On August 17th, the Provincial Dental Hospital, in coordination with Operation Smile Vietnam, conducted screening exams for children with abnormalities. This activity is part of the annual Operation Smile surgery program held in Thua Thien Hue.

On August 9th, the provincial Dental Hospital announced that the unit is collaborating with Operation Smile Vietnam to carry out a smile surgery program for children with cleft lip and cleft palate.

The working trip to the Spratly Archipelago lasted 18 days, but for me, the emotions in my heart are forever filled with years, when I "touched" the sacred waves. Tearful, I looked up at the proudly flying National Flag, imprinting the national image on waves, carrying the image of a resilient soldier in the open sea, and bursting into a heroic song: "The Fatherland’s echoes from the sea..."
