On the 10-acre field of red chiem rice (a traditional red rice grown in brackish lowlands of Hue City, sown by April and harvested by July), each planting season requires 40 to 50 hired laborers, and the harvest stretches over several days. Left untended and unfertilized, the rice grows naturally under the generous sun and rain. Some call it “heaven’s rice” — a variety grown from the grace of Tam Giang’s waters.

My Hue has two seasons each year: rain and sunshine. When it rains, the sky and earth turn white, as though “heaven dispatches its annual flood”. When it’s sunny, it’s hot enough to tan your skin. Despite the cold and rainy weather, many people in Hue continued the tradition of visiting pagodas on the first day of the Lunar New Year to worship Buddha and pray for a peaceful and prosperous year.

The weather in Thua Thien Hue has shifted to a new season. Following sporadic rain showers, persistent cold rain has settled in, which poses a challenge, directly affecting the progress of construction projects.

This art event combined with biodiversity conservation awareness was a program held by the Emotional Rainbow Class on the afternoon of October 20 at Hue Lotus experience space (No. 78 Minh Mang, Hue City).

“Just one rain in Hue makes it be winter” is how Minh Tu, the journalist, borrowed the ancients to describe Hue rain in the long-running series titled “The awaited rains” in Tuoi Tre newspaper. It could also because the rains always bring a sense of melancholy to Hue, even the rains in the middle of summer days.

After a temporary postponement due to the challenging situation of rain and flood, Hue Digital Transformation Week 2023 will officially be held over two days on December 14th and 15th at the Huong River Theater.

Despite of the onset of rainy season, when tourists are no longer rushing to seek tourist destinations, Thua Thien Hue is proactively attracting tourists in the last months with numerous winter tourism activities and products in Hue.
