Hue City People’s Committee is seeking public feedback on a draft resolution regulating the collection, management, and use of entrance fees for Hai Van Frontier Post, a national historical and architectural relic located atop the Hai Van Pass on the boundary between Hue and Danang.

Alongside Bat Trang ceramics from Hanoi, Phuoc Tich ceramics from Hue tell viewers the cultural and historical stories through each artifact.

Once being the Imperial Capital under the Nguyen Dynasty, Hue has undergone many historical phases, and today the city is regarded as one of Vietnam’s few cities where multiple architectural traditions coexist. Due to the impact of storms and high tides, Phu Dien Cham Tower historical site in Phu Vinh Commune has been submerged under water for several days.

In mid-July, Ngoc Khanh Hat boi and Tuong co Troupe (hat boi and tuong co are types of Vietnamese classical opera) and others from the South gave two performances at Thanh Binh Tu Duong, also known as Thanh Binh Tu. The ancestral house, which is located in Alley 281 on Chi Lang Street, Phu Xuan Ward, Hue City, is dedicated to founding fathers of tuong. This house of great historical and cultural value has been recognized as National Heritage Site.

On the morning of September 7th, the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front of Kim Long Ward (Hue City) solemnly held a ceremony to announce the decision and receive the certificate recognizing Van Xuan Communal House as a city-level historical relic.

In the article “Pho Loi River through the Nguyen Dynasty’s Woodblock”, the author Thom Quang cited a historical information: “In Dai Nam thuc luc woodblock No. 154, the carved page 2 recorded that in the year At Mui of Lunar Calendar (1835), Emperor Minh Mang issued an edict for Thua Thien Hue Province to dig Pho Loi River”. Pho Loi River stretches along the route from Hue, starting from the point where it meets the Huong River and then flowing out to Thuan An seaport.

French architectural works in Hue in general, and those located along Le Loi St., in particular, have long been familiar. They are considered the bridges across time, serving as witnesses to the changing face of Hue’s urban landscape through many historical ups and downs.
