In the current of contemporary Vietnamese painting flow, the name Dang Mau Triet has long evoked the image of an artist rich in individuality, constantly shifting between realms of emotion and experimenting with new modes of expression.

In 2005, I was fortunate to meet Dang Van Viet, a revered elder, in Hue, where he had come from Hanoi to join the 60th anniversary of the Frontline Youth School. There, I learned that he was the one who, together with a comrade, raised the red flag with the yellow star over the Phu Van Lau (Phu Van Pavilion) flagpole on August 21, 1945-when the August Revolution had yet to break out, Japanese forces were still armed, and the Nguyen dynasty still stood in the imperial capital of Hue.

The sound of gongs echoing through the mountains, the graceful spins of Pa Co and Ta Oi (ethnic groups) dances, once thought to belong only to the memory of old festivals, are now alive again in A Luoi 2. From September 12 to 14, the City Women’s Union, in collaboration with the Women’s Unions of Quang Dien, Phu Xuan, and Vy Da organized the forum “Listening to Children - Protecting Children in Cyberspace”, with the participation of 300 women members who have children under 16 years old.
