In the context of the increasingly extensive development of Vietnam-Japan relations, local cooperation has become an important driving force that fosters strong and lasting ties between the two countries. For Hue - Vietnam’s unique heritage city - Japan is not only a partner in economy, trade, and tourism, but also a special companion in the journey of cultural exchange, people-to-people engagement, and sustainable development rooted in heritage values.

On the evening of November 29, the Department of Tourism coordinated with relevant units, to organize a welcome event for the first flight and its passengers traveling from Shenzhen (China) to Hue City by air. Attending the program was Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee.

In the tourism and service development orientation of Hue City for the 2025-2030 period, with a vision to 2045, Hue tourism aims to attract 10-12 million visitors by 2030, achieving annual growth of 18-20%, with international visitors accounting for about 45+50%. Speaking with Hue Today Weekly, Mr. Dinh Manh Thang, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Tourism Association and Chairman of Hue Tourism Association, stated that despite encouraging achievements, Hue tourism still faces issues that require bold change to achieve sustainable development.

The Shuttlecock Kicking Tournament of the 10th Hue City Sports Festival (2025–2026) opened on the morning of October 15 at Canh Buom Sport Hall (100 Pham Van Dong Street), bringing together 51 athletes from Hue University, Binh Dien Commune, Phu Xuan Ward, and Phu Bai Ward to compete.

Nearly 5 years into implementation, the project “Promoting the Value of Ho Chi Minh Relics in Hue City to Serve Tourism Development” for the 2021-2025 period has attracted participation from nearly 10 travel agencies offering tours to the Ho Chi Minh Museum and other relic sites.

This was among the key outcomes shared at the Conference on Reviewing the Implementation of Resolution 05/2019/NQ-HDND issued by the Provincial People’s Council (now Hue City People’s Council) on policies supporting community-based tourism (CBT) development in Thua Thien Hue Province (now Hue City) through 2025. The conference, organized by the Department of Tourism on the morning of November 12th, gathered representatives from departments, agencies, and 40 communes and wards across the city.

As a part of 2025 National Tourism Year, the Event Week titled “100 Flavors - Michelin-Starred Chefs” will take place from November 23 to 30 in Ho Chi Minh City and Hue.

On the afternoon of November 7th, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Phan Thien Dinh, together with Standing Committee Member of the City Party Committee and Chairwoman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City Nguyen Thi Ai Van, received a donation of 1 billion VND from Vietravel Tourism Joint Stock Company to support the city’s post-flood recovery efforts.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has issued a document requesting Hue City People’s Committee to prioritize funding and assign Hue Monuments Conservation Center to continue reviewing the areas along the walls of Hue Imperial Citadel that are at high risk of blowing off.

A piece of good news is that in the first 9 months of 2025, Hue welcomed nearly 5 million of tourist arrivals, exceeding the 4.8 million tourist arrivals recorded in 2019. It contributed to creating a strong recovery after a period of stagnation, clearly highlighting the city’s role as the host of 2025 National Tourism Year.
