On the morning of February 23 (the 7th day of the Lunar January), at Trieu Mieu and The Mieu - Hue Imperial Citadel, Hue Monuments of Conservation Center held the ceremony to lower the traditional New Year Neu pole and open the New Year seal in a solemn atmosphere, marking the close of Tet holiday and the start of the new working year in accordance with former royal court rituals.

As Lunar New Year approaches, areas around universities grow increasingly quiet. Traffic thins out, while many eateries and photocopy shops close for the holiday. Boarding houses fall silent as most students head home by the 24th or 25th day of the lunar December; those who remain are mainly from distant hometowns, working part-time, or hoping to experience Tet in a new place.

In the days leading up to the Tet holiday, as the breath of spring gently weaves through every street, Dong Ba market becomes bustling and radiant. Beyond its role as the city’s largest commercial hub, this century-old market has become a familiar destination for residents and visitors to pose for commemorative photos, capturing spring moments imbued with the distinctive character of Hue.

The “Compassionate Bus” program, which brings students with disadvantaged backgrounds home for Tet, has become a humanitarian activity of member institutions of Hue University, giving young people the opportunity to reunite with their families during the spring holidays.

On the morning of February 10th (the 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month of the Year of the Snake), under fine weather conditions, Hue Monuments Conservation Center reenacted the ceremony of setting up Neu pole (Thuong Tieu ceremony) in strict accordance with royal court rituals of the Nguyen Dynasty. The activity was part of Hue Festival 2026, attracting large numbers of locals and visitors to observe and experience the event, recreating the atmosphere of the traditional Tet holiday in the former Royal Palace.

​ On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, on February 8th, the Trade Union of Thuan Hoa Ward organized the program “Tet Reunion - Spring in Gratitude to the Party”, featuring many practical activities to support union members and workers so they can welcome the traditional Tet holiday in joy and warmth. Hue Central Hospital also organized the program “Spring Tet Market” for disadvantaged patients currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

From February 7 to 15, 2026 (corresponding to the 20th to 28th days of the Lunar December of the Year of At Ty), the People’s Committee of Hoa Chau Ward will organize the “Hoa Chau Tet Festival” along Bao Vinh Pedestrian Street. The event will feature a wide range of distinctive cultural and community activities, helping to create a lively and joyful atmosphere for residents in celebration of the traditional Tet holiday of Binh Ngo 2026.

According to statistics from the Department of Tourism, during the nine-day Lunar New Year of the Snake (At Ty)holiday from January 25th to February 2nd (December 26th to the January 5th in the lunar calendar), Hue welcomed an estimated 150,300 visitors, marking a nearly 37% increase compared to the same period during the Year of the Dragon Tet holiday in 2024.

According to the information announced on the night of January 31 by the Department of Tourism, in the 7-day period from January 25 to 31, 2025 (from the December 26 of the lunar Year of Giap Thin to the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year of At Ty), the number of tourists coming to Hue was estimated over 118,600 arrivals, witnessing an increase of 35% to the same period last year.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year of the Snake, heritage sites in Hue opened their doors for free, welcoming thousands of visitors to experience the festive atmosphere of the traditional Tet holiday.

In a space adorned with traditional Tet decorations, over 40 students from various primary students in Hue city area dressing traditional ao dai are immersing themselves into cultural folk games on Tet days.
