With systematic, coordinated, and well-organized preparations, Hue City is now ready for the election of the deputies to the 16th National Assembly and members of People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. Regarding the key tasks in the final stage before the Election Day, a reporter from Hue Today Newspaper spoke with Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Hue City Election Committee.

On the morning of March 10, a traditional boat racing took place on a section of the Bo River passing through the Van Cu - Nam Thanh Residential Area (Kim Tra Ward). This is one of the key highlights in the series of activities of the Ba Bun Worship Ceremony, held over two days from March 9 to 10.

Hue is undergoing a powerful transformation as it has become a centrally governed city, not only leveraging its natural advantages and distinctive cultural heritage but also proactively seeking new growth drivers. The development of a green logistics center and the establishment of a Free Trade Zone (FTZ) are viewed as strategic breakthroughs for the Ancient Capital.

Ask the people of Hue what flower they love most, and most will likely answer: the apricot blossom. To put it more formally, “hoang mai” - yellow apricot, without a doubt. Don’t believe it? Come to Hue and see for yourself! There’s a whole movement called “Yellow apricot blossom in front of the entrance”; a completed research project on “Conservation and development of Hue’s yellow apricot variety (Hue’s Hoang mai)”; a scientific conference on developing Hue’s Hoang mai into a key local product, aimed at successfully realizing the project to build Thua Thien Hue province (now Hue City) into Vietnam’s yellow apricot homeland. My friend, journalist Minh Tu, even published a book called “In front of the house stands a yellow apricot tree”, which sold out instantly, was reprinted, and translated into foreign languages to great acclaim.

Hue is leveraging its advantages in location, infrastructure, as well as special mechanisms and policies to step-by-step establish itself as a commercial hub of the Central region; in which, trade and services are identified as key drivers of growth in the coming period.

From February 13th - 14th, in Hue, the Khoi Su Tu Tam Foundation (Kim Oanh Group), in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, organized its key charitable program “Gieo Xuan Season 3 2026”, along with accompanying activities such as “Happiness Sprouts” and gift presentations for disadvantaged children, patients, and members of the local Blind Association. The total budget for the series of activities was nearly 700 million VND.

The “Restructuring the Tourism Sector to Meet the Requirements of Becoming a Key Economic Sector” plan, approved under Decision No. 1685/QD-TTg dated December 5th, 2018 by the Prime Minister, has established an important policy framework for the comprehensive renewal of the tourism sector. Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with ministries, sectors, and localities, including Hue City, has focused on removing bottlenecks and gradually restructuring tourism products, visitor markets, and the tourism management system…

On the morning of January 14, Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Nguyen Khac Toan, together with Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Hoang Hai Minh, and a delegation inspected the operations and business performance of several major corporations, factories, and projects in the area.

On January 13th, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee held a working session with the Party Committee of Chan May - Lang Co Commune regarding the implementation of the Resolution of the 1st Commune Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term.

On the afternoon of January 9, the Department of Tourism held a conference to review its work in 2025 and roll out tasks for the tourism sector in 2026.
