Hue has identified tourism and services as its spearhead economic sector. Under the scenario for developing tourism in line with the double-digit growth target, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has set a target for Hue to welcome approximately 2.5 million international visitors in 2026, up 31.5% from 2025. This is both a target and a test of the city’s ability to turn its tourism advantages into revenue, investment opportunities, and ripple effects across other economic sectors.

On October 15, the Hue City Women’s Union, in coordination with Children of Vietnam (COV), presented cash assistance to 125 single women facing financial difficulties in Huong An and Hoa Chau wards, and launched a safe vegetable production cooperative group in Huong An Ward.

On the afternoon of October 15, Hue City Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association, in coordination with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, and the Vietnam Haiku Poetry Club - Hue Ancient Capital, held a Vietnam - Japan musical exchange program featuring Tachibana Saburo, a Shakuhachi flute artist, along with other artists, club members, and students of the university.

Hue City is speeding up the implementation of its free periodic health checkup and screening program for all residents. This is not merely an administrative task, but also an important shift in healthcare, from treating illnesses after they occur to actively preventing diseases, detecting health problems early and managing each resident’s health over the long term.

On October 14 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Hue City People’s Committee signed an Action plan for cooperation on the development of culture, sports, and tourism through 2030. Hue City is the first locality to sign such a cooperation plan, aiming to tap into the potential and advantages of the city as a heritage city, a Festival City, and a distinctive cultural center of Vietnam.

On the afternoon of October 14th, the Standing Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City held its regular meeting for October 2026, chaired by Mr. Nguyen Chi Tai, Deputy Secretary of Hue City Party Committee and Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City. The meeting focused on reviewing the implementation of Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations' tasks in September and setting key priorities for October 2026.

In recognition of its digital transformation solution in management, administration, and services for residents and businesses through the Hue-S platform and the Intelligent Operations Center (IOC), Hue City was among the honorees at the 9th Vietnam Digital Awards (VDA) 2026, held in Hanoi on the afternoon of October 14. The awards are directed by the Vietnam Digital Communications Association and organized by VietTimes e-Magazine, under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

With total funding of nearly 1.8 billion VND, the ‘Supporting Students to School’ 2026 scholarship program in Hue City provided encouragement to 105 disadvantaged first-year students, who are determined to pursue their education.

On October 14, the Department of Science and Technology, the standing board of the Organizing Committee for the 2026 Hue City Creative Startup Competition, held the semifinal round for 30 outstanding projects selected from the preliminary round. This semifinal round was held under the theme ‘Promoting Cultural Heritage Values in the Digital Economy’.

With a new approach that shifts from ''preserving and exploiting individual monuments'' to ''connecting and leveraging the entire heritage system,'' the Project titled ''Leveraging the Value of President Ho Chi Minh Relics in Hue City for Tourism Development (2026 - 2030)'' (hereinafter referred to as the Project) also aims to address uneven heritage promotion and the lack of system-wide connectivity among historic sites.
