The highlight of this week’s edition is an article by Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung, Secretary of Hue City Party Committee and Head of Hue City National Assembly Delegation, titled: ‘Hue Must Accelerate and Break Through by Renewing Its Mindset and Enhancing Implementation Effectiveness’.

The 6th Conference of the 17th Hue City Party Committee was held at a particularly significant moment for Hue. Beyond being an occasion to review the city’s socio-economic performance during the first six months of 2026, the conference marked a crucial opportunity for the entire Party Committee to unify its strategic thinking, reinforce its political resolve, and adopt robust solutions that will propel Hue into a new phase of accelerated growth and breakthrough development.

The current setting presents Hue with both significant opportunities and considerable challenges. Alongside the rest of the country, the city is implementing the Central Government’s major policies on streamlining the organizational apparatus to make it leaner, more efficient, effective and productive. Furthermore, the city is also promoting decentralization of authority in tandem with oversight of power; advancing science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; fostering the development of the private sector; and pursuing the goal of rapid and sustainable growth.

More importantly, the guiding principle must be clear: Renewing Mindset and Acting decisively; further strengthening decentralization with clearer responsibility; Upholding stricter discipline and achieving more tangible results. Every task, every program, and every solution must ultimately serve the city’s development and enhance the well-being and satisfaction of its people and businesses…

In the new stage of development, Hue must place even greater emphasis on discipline and effective oversight of power, and the prevention of corruption, wastefulness, and other negative practices. At the same time, it must build a force of officials who dare to think, dare to act, and dare to take responsibility for the common good. The city’s development cannot rely on outdated approaches or a risk-averse mindset marked by hesitation and the shifting of responsibility.

The opportunities before us are immense, but opportunities do not automatically translate into achievements. Hue must grow faster, more sustainably, and more modernly, while reinforcing its identity as a city that is tranquil, humane, green, clean, beautiful, rich in cultural heritage - a wonderful place to live.

‘Keeping the Green Shield at the Frontline’ is an article developed by Phong Anh, a reporter, at The Reportages & Notes section

Nearly a year after the destruction of a coastal protection forest sparked widespread public concern, greenery has returned to the once-barren stretches of white sand in Phong Quang Ward, Hue City. This revival is not only the result of sustained forest restoration efforts but also a testament to the growing awareness and sense of responsibility shared by local authorities and residents in protecting these forests, which serve as a vital green shield against strong winds and coastal storms.

Protecting planted forests and coastal protection forests has been identified as a long-term priority for relevant authorities and an integral part of Phong Dien Ward’s sustainable development strategy.  Achieving this requires a more effective approach to raising public awareness on discouraging illegal logging and forest land encroachment while fostering a stronger sense of responsibility for protecting forest resources. At the same time, functional forces have to conduct regular inspections to promptly detect and deal with violations that threaten the forests.

This week’s edition of Hue Today Weekly also features various engaging stories, including: Enhancing Destination Quality (Tu An); Hue’s Urban Data Framework: From “Compliance” to “Identity” (Huong Binh); Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital: Towards International Standards (Hoang Trieu); Working in Culture: Easy Said Than Done (Ngo Cong Tan); When Young People Embrace Anime Figures (Mai Hue); Searching for the Missing Pieces of Heritage (Lien Minh)…

Cultural industries, based on knowledge, creativity, identity, and technology, are emerging as one of the key growth drivers for many nations. In this context, placing culture at the center of development strategy - as expressed in the spirit of Resolution 80-NQ/TW dated January 7, 2026, of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture - is not merely a political orientation but an inevitable imperative of the era.
