Welcoming the first bounty of the sea
HNN.VN - In the coastal fishing villages of Phu Vang District, nearshore fishermen have begun their first voyages of the year, setting sail to welcome the sea’s early blessings.

In My Khanh fishing village, Phu Dien Commune, Phu Vang District, after performing the Ha Vong ceremony on the afternoon of the first day of the Lunar New Year, fishermen took advantage of the sunny weather on the third day of Tet to set sail on their first fishing trip of the year.
Departing at 4 a.m., the fishermen spent around five hours at sea before returning to shore between 9 and 10 a.m. Their boats arrived laden with fresh shrimp and fish, welcomed by eager villagers awaiting the year’s first catch.
Returning with nearly 5 kilograms of Bombay ducks, crabs, and other fish, Phan Van Kem from My Khanh, Phu Dien, shared: “The weather is nice, but the waves were strong. Still, having a smooth first trip like this is a great start. With Bombay ducks selling for over 250,000 VND per kilogram, my boat made a few million dong on this trip. All the fishermen are thrilled - the weather is favorable, and the prices for Bombay ducks and crabs are high.”
In the early days of the new year, nearshore fishermen are enjoying high prices for fresh seafood, encouraging them to set sail and earn extra income.
