VnExpress Marathon Hue 2026 - Running to experience Hue more “deeply”

HNN.VN - VnExpress Marathon Hue 2026 officially took place on the morning of April 19, with the starting point on Le Duan Street, in front of the Phu Van Lau - Nghinh Luong Dinh area. Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, attended the event and joined the 5km race.

Attracting over 8,000 domestic and international runners competing in three distances, including: 21km, 10km, and 5km (starting at 4:00 AM, 5:00 AM, and 6:00 AM respectively), VnExpress Marathon Hue 2026 introduced a new feature - staggered starting pens, which helped reduce congestion on the course and made traffic management more efficient.

Along the route, runners had the opportunity to experience “distinct Hue” routes, passing by the green tree-shaded streets; as well as landmarks tied to Hue’s history and culture, including Truong Tien Bridge, Da Vien Bridge, Phu Xuan Bridge, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted, and the Imperial Citadel, etc. At the same time, they could feel the dynamic transformation of a modern and vibrant Hue.

This year, VnExpress Marathon Hue expanded the number of overall winners to 5 instead of 3. Specifically, the 21km champion received a prize package worth 14.372 million VND. The second and third-place winners received 13.372 million VND, and 12.372 million VND, respectively; while the remaining two spots received 10.95 million VND, and 9.95 million VND, respectively.

“VnExpress Marathon Hue 2026 is not only a sporting event that promotes Hue’s tourism and cultural image, but also a bridge connecting sports and heritage, physical activity and experience. These are key factors contributing to Hue’s continued development toward a green, dynamic, and sustainable city,” said Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports.

As Lunar New Year approaches, areas around universities grow increasingly quiet. Traffic thins out, while many eateries and photocopy shops close for the holiday. Boarding houses fall silent as most students head home by the 24th or 25th day of the lunar December; those who remain are mainly from distant hometowns, working part-time, or hoping to experience Tet in a new place.
