Thousands Cheer at the 1st Huong Thuy Ward Boat Racing Festival - 2026
HNN.VN - The 1st Huong Thuy Ward Boat Racing Festival - 2026 took place on the morning of February 25 on the Dai Giang River, drawing thousands of spectators who came to cheer on the competition.

In its inaugural edition, the race drew 10 teams, including 9 from Huong Thuy Ward and 1 from Thanh Thuy Ward. The teams competed across 10 heats, comprising 1 ceremonial heat, 1 breakaway heat, and 8 main competitive heats.
Mr. Ngo Van Vinh, Secretary of Huong Thuy Ward Party Committee, said that the race is intended to continue the traditional boat racing, which is held annually on the 9th day of the first Lunar month by the former Huong Thuy Town, while also providing a festive and healthy recreational event for residents at the start of the New Year.
“It is expected that this will become an annual traditional event of Huong Thuy Ward, held to pray for favorable weather, prosperous livelihoods, and to enrich the spiritual life of residents,” said Mr. Vinh.
In a related development, according to leaders of Thanh Thuy Ward, the traditional boat racing festival formerly held by the former Huong Thuy Town is expected to be revived in early 2027, with Thanh Thuy Ward serving as host.
