The quiet fragrance

HNN.VN - These are the female "warriors" of Hue Central Hospital in all areas of health care for patients. Despite stress, pressure, and even the constant risk of infection, those "warriors" always fulfill the mission of a physician, like flowers silently emitting fragrance.

Mai Thi Hong Van, Phan Nha Uyen, Phan Thi Phuong, Diep Thi Ngoc Bich, Le Thi Anh Nhu... are the "warriors" among the many "warriors" of Hue Central Hospital that fought throughout the North, the South and Central region's frontline when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.

Putting aside daily work and family worries, they have overcome all psychological and health barriers and entered the "battle" against the COVID-19 pandemic with the highest sense of responsibility possible.

At the time of the complicated COVID-19 pandemic, more than 200 doctors and nurses of Hue Central Hospital signed volunteer applications to directly treat and care for patients having COVID-19. Among those enthusiastic applications, there are many applications of female soldiers in the white coat.

It was the nurse Anh Nhu who volunteered to "head to the South" with an unspecified return date as it was also the furthest out-of-province business trip in her 20-year career. It was Doctor Phan Nha Uyen who, after 10 times writing the volunteer application to the frontline, has been approved to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was Dr. Phan Thi Phuong who entrusts her husband and relatives to take care of 2 children and house construction to follow a volunteer application into hot spots; or, Doctor Mai Thi Hong Van who is an active, smiling girl, decides to stay for several times at Hue Central Hospital's Resuscitation Center for COVID-19 patients even though it's been her turn to "withdraw" according to the decision of the Board of Directors.

"I want to stay here so that every day I can help patients recover their function and return to their daily lives soon. I will forever remember the eyes of a middle-aged female patient when experiencing shortness of breath and obsession from the beeping of the ventilator. There was a time that she fell into a critical condition. But with the dedication of the doctors and the patient's efforts to practice, luck came to her. Seeing her being able to walk is our meaningful happiness," shared Dr. Van.

In the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Hue Central Hospital is considered one of the critical medical strongholds of the Central region. This is the last defense to receive and treat COVID-19 patients with severe underlying diseases.

Experiencing waves of the COVID-19 pandemic, the fight against this "enemy" never seemed to give the medical staff of Hue Central Hospital, including female soldiers in white coats, some time to rest. Many female "warriors" have volunteered to choose difficult and dangerous jobs to serve the People and the country during the pandemic. On any front, they always gave their best effort and dedication to complete any task.

Hue Central Hospital has more than 3,179 officials and employees, of which the proportion of women accounts for about 64.5%. The number of female staff being the head of faculty/department accounted for 20.4%; Nursing and administrative staff, including the director and deputy head of the department/department/center, account for 80%.

The hospital has always been a reliable address for high-quality medical care and treatment. The female staff in general and the hospital intellectuals, in particular, are an active factor and play a significant role in the upward development of the Hospital. In 2020, the collective of female officers and employees of Hue Central Hospital was honored to receive the "Vietnamese Women’s Awards" from the Vietnam Women's Union.

It is impossible to measure all the silent sacrifices and struggles of female hospital staff and doctors on medical frontlines. Dr. Hoang Thi Lan Huong, MSc., Specialist II, Deputy Director of Hue Central Hospital, always feels proud; she said, "Having done well in the office and as a wife and mother in the family, they have overcome every hardship with the support from relatives to successfully complete all tasks, not being inferior to male colleagues. They are colorful flowers, emitting fragrance in the women’s flower garden of Hue Central Hospital."
